COVID-19 - LSRC Membership Update
The government announced on Thursday 16th July that some additional restrictions will continue in Leicester City and the Borough of Oadby and Wigston, with the next review taking place by the 1st August. Unfortunately this means that our Club remains in lockdown for the time being.
There are encouraging signs however, for example England Squash has released Back to Squash guidance which can be downloaded from the England Squash website: https://www.englandsquash.com, and the government is announcing almost weekly updates on the easing of restrictions.
You will see that the guidance also highlights just how challenging it will be for 'normal play' to resume, and sadly it looks as though the game of doubles is a long way off from returning any time soon.
So, we're not out of the woods yet by any means, and we want to be able to open the Club in a way that is safe for our members and follows best practice as and when the time comes. To that end the committee will continue to review the situation on a weekly basis; we are also liaising with other clubs outside of the lockdown area to see how they're preparing to return, and the measures they're putting in place.
However it is clear that many of us will need to adapt the way that we play if we wish to get back on court (see England Squash guidelines). The content of the guidance is subject to change as the situation evolves, and I sincerely hope that as each week passes the ability to play competitively will become more apparent.
With that in mind, please do email me if you have any thoughts, suggestions and/or questions at: email@example.com.
On behalf of the committee,
Take care and stay safe.
