Welcome to Leicester Squash Club, and thank you for visiting our website.
Founded in 1936, owned and run by its members, Leicester Squash Club is the longest established squash club in Leicestershire. We take pride in the quality of our 4 courts, reputed to be among the very best in the Midlands.
In 2009 the club achieved the England Squash and Racketball Charter Silver Award, which recognises it has excellent facilities, offers a welcoming environment, sets high standards in child protection, and works closely with local schools to develop the future generations of squash and racketball players.
We aim to provide opportunities for players of all standards. Six menís and one ladies' team compete in the Leicestershire squash leagues. In the 2009-2010 season our Men's First Team won the Midland League and the first division of the Leicestershire League. Our Ladies Team won the Leicestershire Ladies League.
Our Head Coach, James Wright, is qualified to Level 2 of the England Squash and Racketball coaching scheme. James is also currenly the Leicester County Champion. We have an active junior section and group coaching is available to junior members and non-members every Saturday morning and Tuesday evening.
Social squash is played by members of all ages and abilities and for those wanting competition there are internal leagues on a monthly promotion/relegation cycle. Club Night on Fridays offers the opportunity for all members to come along and play without prior arrangement.
During the summer the club hosts the very popular Leicestershire Squash Business League, this year sponsored by Pick Everard, one of the leading architectural and engineering partnerships in the country. Doubles squash is well established at the club and there is an increasing interest among members in playing racketball.
We have European links and in recent years teams have travelled to Budapest, Porto, Monaco, Rome, Brno and Dublin.
We have a sizeable and modern function room available for hire and catering can be provided. The room is actively used for business meetings during the day and for classes such as yoga, aerobics and performing arts in the evening.
Our bar area overlooks all four courts and many a pleasant hour is spent by members chatting and watching the games being played from the comfort of the bar. We are proud of our club and its facilities and our members particularly value its convivial atmosphere.
